Does Ancestry support 2FA?

ancestry.comOtherNot yet

Ancestry does not currently support authenticator-app (TOTP) two-factor authentication. Ancestry does offer 2FA via SMS text message and email code — better than nothing, but an authenticator app is the more secure option if Ancestry adds it.

2FA methods Ancestry supports

  • SMS text message
  • Email code

Ancestry does not offer an authenticator-app (TOTP) option yet. Authenticator apps are safer than SMS, so it's worth requesting.

How to keep your Ancestry account secure

Use a long, unique password (a password manager helps), turn on any 2FA method Ancestry offers, and stay alert to phishing. See Ancestry's official security documentation ↗. If Ancestry adds authenticator-app support, you'll be able to use MS Authenticator App.
