Does Bank of Scotland support 2FA?
Bank of Scotland does not currently support authenticator-app (TOTP) two-factor authentication. Bank of Scotland does offer 2FA via its own app, phone call and SMS text message — better than nothing, but an authenticator app is the more secure option if Bank of Scotland adds it.
2FA methods Bank of Scotland supports
- Proprietary app
- Phone call
- SMS text message
Bank of Scotland does not offer an authenticator-app (TOTP) option yet. Authenticator apps are safer than SMS, so it's worth requesting.
How to keep your Bank of Scotland account secure
Use a long, unique password (a password manager helps), turn on any 2FA method Bank of Scotland offers, and stay alert to phishing. See Bank of Scotland's official security documentation ↗. If Bank of Scotland adds authenticator-app support, you'll be able to use MS Authenticator App.
