Does Capital One support 2FA?

capitalone.comFinanceNot yet

Capital One does not currently support authenticator-app (TOTP) two-factor authentication. Capital One does offer 2FA via SMS text message, email code and its own app — better than nothing, but an authenticator app is the more secure option if Capital One adds it.

2FA methods Capital One supports

  • SMS text message
  • Email code
  • Proprietary app

Capital One does not offer an authenticator-app (TOTP) option yet. Authenticator apps are safer than SMS, so it's worth requesting.

How to keep your Capital One account secure

Use a long, unique password (a password manager helps), turn on any 2FA method Capital One offers, and stay alert to phishing. See Capital One's official security documentation ↗. If Capital One adds authenticator-app support, you'll be able to use MS Authenticator App.
