Does CIBC support 2FA?
CIBC does not currently support authenticator-app (TOTP) two-factor authentication. CIBC does offer 2FA via phone call, SMS text message and its own app — better than nothing, but an authenticator app is the more secure option if CIBC adds it.
2FA methods CIBC supports
- Phone call
- SMS text message
- Proprietary app
CIBC does not offer an authenticator-app (TOTP) option yet. Authenticator apps are safer than SMS, so it's worth requesting.
How to keep your CIBC account secure
Use a long, unique password (a password manager helps), turn on any 2FA method CIBC offers, and stay alert to phishing. See CIBC's official security documentation ↗. If CIBC adds authenticator-app support, you'll be able to use MS Authenticator App.
