Does E*Trade support 2FA?
E*Trade does not currently support authenticator-app (TOTP) two-factor authentication. E*Trade does offer 2FA via its own app and a hardware token — better than nothing, but an authenticator app is the more secure option if E*Trade adds it.
2FA methods E*Trade supports
- Proprietary app
- Hardware token
E*Trade does not offer an authenticator-app (TOTP) option yet. Authenticator apps are safer than SMS, so it's worth requesting.
How to keep your E*Trade account secure
Use a long, unique password (a password manager helps), turn on any 2FA method E*Trade offers, and stay alert to phishing. See E*Trade's official security documentation ↗. If E*Trade adds authenticator-app support, you'll be able to use MS Authenticator App.
