Does Georgetown University support 2FA?

georgetown.eduEducationNot yet

Georgetown University does not currently support authenticator-app (TOTP) two-factor authentication. Georgetown University does offer 2FA via a security key and its own app — better than nothing, but an authenticator app is the more secure option if Georgetown University adds it.

2FA methods Georgetown University supports

  • Security key (U2F / WebAuthn)
  • Proprietary app

Georgetown University does not offer an authenticator-app (TOTP) option yet. Authenticator apps are safer than SMS, so it's worth requesting.

How to keep your Georgetown University account secure

Use a long, unique password (a password manager helps), turn on any 2FA method Georgetown University offers, and stay alert to phishing. See Georgetown University's official security documentation ↗. If Georgetown University adds authenticator-app support, you'll be able to use MS Authenticator App.
