Does NHS App support 2FA?
NHS App does not currently support authenticator-app (TOTP) two-factor authentication. NHS App does offer 2FA via SMS text message — better than nothing, but an authenticator app is the more secure option if NHS App adds it.
2FA methods NHS App supports
- SMS text message
NHS App does not offer an authenticator-app (TOTP) option yet. Authenticator apps are safer than SMS, so it's worth requesting.
How to keep your NHS App account secure
Use a long, unique password (a password manager helps), turn on any 2FA method NHS App offers, and stay alert to phishing. See NHS App's official security documentation ↗. If NHS App adds authenticator-app support, you'll be able to use MS Authenticator App.
