Does Steam support 2FA?
Steam does not currently support authenticator-app (TOTP) two-factor authentication. Steam does offer 2FA via email code and its own app — better than nothing, but an authenticator app is the more secure option if Steam adds it.
2FA methods Steam supports
- Email code
- Proprietary app
Steam does not offer an authenticator-app (TOTP) option yet. Authenticator apps are safer than SMS, so it's worth requesting.
How to keep your Steam account secure
Use a long, unique password (a password manager helps), turn on any 2FA method Steam offers, and stay alert to phishing. See Steam's official security documentation ↗. If Steam adds authenticator-app support, you'll be able to use MS Authenticator App.
