Does Telegram support 2FA?
Telegram does not currently support authenticator-app (TOTP) two-factor authentication. Telegram does offer 2FA via SMS text message and phone call — better than nothing, but an authenticator app is the more secure option if Telegram adds it.
2FA methods Telegram supports
- SMS text message
- Phone call
Telegram does not offer an authenticator-app (TOTP) option yet. Authenticator apps are safer than SMS, so it's worth requesting.
How to keep your Telegram account secure
Use a long, unique password (a password manager helps), turn on any 2FA method Telegram offers, and stay alert to phishing. See Telegram's official security documentation ↗. If Telegram adds authenticator-app support, you'll be able to use MS Authenticator App.
