Does TIAA-CREF support 2FA?
TIAA-CREF does not currently support authenticator-app (TOTP) two-factor authentication. TIAA-CREF does offer 2FA via SMS text message and phone call — better than nothing, but an authenticator app is the more secure option if TIAA-CREF adds it.
2FA methods TIAA-CREF supports
- SMS text message
- Phone call
TIAA-CREF does not offer an authenticator-app (TOTP) option yet. Authenticator apps are safer than SMS, so it's worth requesting.
How to keep your TIAA-CREF account secure
Use a long, unique password (a password manager helps), turn on any 2FA method TIAA-CREF offers, and stay alert to phishing. If TIAA-CREF adds authenticator-app support, you'll be able to use MS Authenticator App.
