Does University of Waterloo support 2FA?
University of Waterloo does not currently support authenticator-app (TOTP) two-factor authentication. University of Waterloo does offer 2FA via a security key, its own app, a hardware token, SMS text message and phone call — better than nothing, but an authenticator app is the more secure option if University of Waterloo adds it.
2FA methods University of Waterloo supports
- Security key (U2F / WebAuthn)
- Proprietary app
- Hardware token
- SMS text message
- Phone call
University of Waterloo does not offer an authenticator-app (TOTP) option yet. Authenticator apps are safer than SMS, so it's worth requesting.
