Does Wells Fargo support 2FA?

wellsfargo.comFinanceNot yet

Wells Fargo does not currently support authenticator-app (TOTP) two-factor authentication. Wells Fargo does offer 2FA via SMS text message, phone call, a hardware token and its own app — better than nothing, but an authenticator app is the more secure option if Wells Fargo adds it.

2FA methods Wells Fargo supports

  • SMS text message
  • Phone call
  • Hardware token
  • Proprietary app

Wells Fargo does not offer an authenticator-app (TOTP) option yet. Authenticator apps are safer than SMS, so it's worth requesting.

How to keep your Wells Fargo account secure

Use a long, unique password (a password manager helps), turn on any 2FA method Wells Fargo offers, and stay alert to phishing. See Wells Fargo's official security documentation ↗. If Wells Fargo adds authenticator-app support, you'll be able to use MS Authenticator App.
