Does Optus support 2FA?

optus.com.auUtilitiesNot yet

Optus does not currently support authenticator-app (TOTP) two-factor authentication. Optus does offer 2FA via SMS text message and email code — better than nothing, but an authenticator app is the more secure option if Optus adds it.

2FA methods Optus supports

  • SMS text message
  • Email code

Optus does not offer an authenticator-app (TOTP) option yet. Authenticator apps are safer than SMS, so it's worth requesting.

How to keep your Optus account secure

Use a long, unique password (a password manager helps), turn on any 2FA method Optus offers, and stay alert to phishing. See Optus's official security documentation ↗. If Optus adds authenticator-app support, you'll be able to use MS Authenticator App.
