Bybit 2FA: How to Set Up an Authenticator App

bybit.com SupportedChecked against official help · September 25, 2026

Your Bybit account holds your crypto assets, and Bybit urges all traders to keep two-factor authentication (2FA) bound to an authenticator at all times. The setting is called "Google Two Factor Authentication" on the website, but Bybit's help refers to codes from Google Authenticator or other 2FA apps, so Authenticator App - Novaz can generate your 6-digit codes.

Crypto transactions can't be reversed, so protecting your Bybit sign-in with 2FA is essential. Besides an authenticator app, Bybit also offers SMS text codes and email codes. An authenticator app (TOTP) is usually the best balance of security and convenience — and it's safer than SMS codes, which can be intercepted through SIM-swap attacks.

2FA methods Bybit supports

  • SMS text message
  • Email code
  • Authenticator app (TOTP)

Before you start

  • Your Bybit login (email address or mobile number) and password
  • Access to the email address or mobile number registered on your Bybit account, because Bybit sends a verification code there before showing the QR code
  • Authenticator App - Novaz installed on your iPhone or iPad
  • Bybit open on a computer, so the QR code is on a different screen from your phone
  • A safe place for your Recovery Key Phrase (RKP), such as an encrypted cloud server or another secured device

Part 1: Turn on 2FA in Bybit

  1. 1

    Open the Security page

Sign in on the Bybit website, hover over your Profile icon on the homepage, then click "Account" → "Security".

  2. 2

    Start Google Two Factor Authentication

Click the "Settings" button next to "Google Two Factor Authentication". You can also click "Set up Google Authenticator" on the Bybit Protect banner.

  3. 3

    Complete the security verification

A security verification window appears and Bybit sends a code to your registered email address or mobile number. Enter it in the empty boxes. A pop-up with a QR code then appears; leave it open.

Part 2: Add Bybit to Authenticator App - Novaz

  1. 4

Scan the QR code in Authenticator App - Novaz

Open Authenticator App - Novaz, tap the + button and scan the QR code. Bybit's help says the entry is named Bybit followed by your registered email address or phone number; check the account name, then tap "Save".

  2. 5

    Note the 6-digit code

Authenticator App - Novaz now shows a 6-digit code for Bybit. It changes regularly, so have it ready for the next steps.

Part 3: Confirm and finish

  1. 6

Write down your Recovery Key Phrase

Back on Bybit, write down the Recovery Key Phrase (RKP) and store it securely. It appears as a QR code or a string of letters and numbers, only once, and Bybit doesn't store it. You need it to bind a new authenticator later.

  2. 7

Enter the code and click Confirm

Key in the 6-digit code from Authenticator App - Novaz and click "Confirm". Your authenticator is now bound to your Bybit account.

  3. 8

Save a way to recover your account

If Bybit offers backup or recovery codes, download them or write them down and store them somewhere safe. They are how you get back into your account if you ever lose your phone. If it doesn't, check how Bybit recovers accounts before you need it.

If something goes wrong

  • Bybit shows "Invalid Code": make sure you're reading the code from the Bybit entry, not another service's, and that your iPhone sets its date and time automatically (Settings > General > Date & Time).
  • The code runs out while you type: network delays can cause errors, so use a code with enough time left. Bybit also suggests turning off any VPN.
  • Codes still fail on the website: try a private window, or clear your browser's cookies and cache.
  • The email or SMS verification code doesn't arrive: Bybit's Help Center has separate troubleshooting guides for each.

How to recover your Bybit account

Bybit's help doesn't describe backup codes; your Recovery Key Phrase is how you bind the authenticator again. On a new phone, open Authenticator App - Novaz, tap +, choose to enter a setup key and type the RKP as the key. Without the RKP, Bybit can unbind the authenticator. On the website, log in with your email or mobile number and password, click "Continue", then "Having problems with verification". Select "Google Authenticator not working", click "Confirm", then "Send Verification Code", and enter the code sent to your registered email and mobile number. Bybit may ask for further verification by email; support replies within 1–3 working days. If you've permanently lost your registered phone number or email, submit a case manually to Bybit support.
