Crypto 2FA: How to Set Up an Authenticator App

Two-factor authentication stops someone who has your Crypto.com password from getting into your account and your crypto. Crypto.com supports codes from an authenticator app, so Authenticator App - Novaz can generate them.

Crypto transactions can't be reversed, so protecting your Crypto sign-in with 2FA is essential. Crypto secures sign-ins with an authenticator app — set it up once and you're protected on every login.

Before you start

  • The Crypto.com app installed and signed in on your iPhone
  • Authenticator App - Novaz installed on the same iPhone

Part 1: Turn on 2FA in Crypto

    Open Settings in the Crypto.com app

    Launch Crypto.com on your iPhone and tap "Settings" in the top-left corner.

    Tap 2-Factor Authentication

    In the settings list, tap "2-Factor Authentication".

    Turn on Enable 2FA

    On the screen that follows, switch the "Enable 2FA" toggle on.

    Screenshot the QR code

    A pop-up shows a QR code. Because you're setting up on the same phone, take a screenshot of it and save the image to Files. The code in the image here is only a sample, so capture your own.

Part 2: Add Crypto to Authenticator App - Novaz

    Import the screenshot into Authenticator App - Novaz

    In Authenticator App - Novaz, tap the + button at the bottom, choose "Files" and select the screenshot you just saved.

    Review and save the account

    After the import, the app fills in the Crypto.com logo, account name and secret key. Change the name or icon if you want, then tap "Save".

Part 3: Confirm and finish

    Enter the code and tap Activate 2FA

    Copy the current code from Authenticator App - Novaz, switch back to the Crypto.com app, paste it in and tap "Activate 2FA". Codes refresh every 30 seconds, so don't wait too long.

    You're protected

    Two-factor authentication is now active on Crypto.com. You'll need a code from Authenticator App - Novaz each time you sign in.

    Save a way to recover your account

    If Crypto offers backup or recovery codes, download them or write them down and store them somewhere safe. They are how you get back into your account if you ever lose your phone. If it doesn't, check how Crypto recovers accounts before you need it.

If something goes wrong

  • Crypto.com rejects the code: check that Set Automatically is on in Settings > General > Date & Time on your iPhone, then try the newest code.
  • The code expired while you switched apps: wait for the next one, copy it and paste it quickly.
  • The import doesn't find a QR code: retake the screenshot so the whole code is visible and nothing covers it, then import it again.
  • Once setup is done, delete the QR code screenshot from Files, since anyone with that image could add your account to their own authenticator.

How to recover your Crypto account

If you lose access to your authenticator and Crypto gave you backup or recovery codes when you turned on 2FA, sign in with one of them; keep them somewhere safe, away from your phone. Not every service issues codes. If Crypto doesn't, or you didn't save them, use Crypto's account-recovery or support process (or ask your admin, for a work account) to get back in.
