ESET HOME 2FA: How to Set Up an Authenticator App

eset.com SupportedChecked against official help · September 25, 2026

Your ESET HOME account, and the data you can access through it, deserves more than a password. ESET calls the feature Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and supports the TOTP protocol, so any compatible authenticator app, including Authenticator App - Novaz, can generate the 6-digit codes.

A ESET HOME account is part of your security setup, so it deserves strong 2FA of its own. ESET HOME secures sign-ins with an authenticator app — set it up once and you're protected on every login.

2FA methods ESET HOME supports

  • Authenticator app (TOTP)

Before you start

  • Your ESET HOME email address and password (ESET HOME asks for the password during setup)
  • If you sign in with a social login, an ESET HOME password first: social logins don't create one by default, and 2FA setup requires it
  • Authenticator App - Novaz installed on your iPhone or iPad
  • ESET HOME open on a computer, and a safe place to store 10 recovery codes

Part 1: Turn on 2FA in ESET HOME

  1. 1

Open your ESET HOME account page

    Sign in and open home.eset.com/account.

  2. 2

Click Set up next to Two-factor authentication

In the "Security settings" section, click "Set up" next to "Two-factor authentication".

  3. 3

    Confirm your password

Enter your ESET HOME password and click "Continue". If you use a social login, click "Continue" and follow the instructions ESET emails you to create a password first. ESET HOME then shows a QR code with a manual code underneath.

Part 2: Add ESET HOME to Authenticator App - Novaz

  1. 4

Add ESET HOME in Authenticator App - Novaz

Open Authenticator App - Novaz, tap the + button and scan the QR code. If it won't scan, choose to enter a setup key and type the manual code shown under the QR code. Use "ESET HOME" as the account name, then tap "Save".

Part 3: Confirm and finish

  1. 5

    Enter the 6-digit code

Back in ESET HOME, click "Continue". Type the current 6-digit code from Authenticator App - Novaz and click "Continue".

  2. 6

    Download your recovery codes

ESET HOME shows ten one-time recovery codes. Click "Download codes & continue" and store the file somewhere safe, ideally not on the phone you use for codes.

  3. 7

    Click Got it

Two-Factor Authentication for your ESET HOME account is now enabled. Click "Got it".

  4. 8

Know when ESET HOME will ask for a code

After your password, ESET HOME asks for a 6-digit code from Authenticator App - Novaz. Check "Remember this device for 30 days" before clicking "Continue" if you don't want to be asked on that device for 30 days.

If something goes wrong

  • ESET HOME rejects the code: make sure your iPhone sets its date and time automatically (Settings > General > Date & Time), then enter the newest code.
  • The QR code won't scan: add the manual code displayed under the QR code as a setup key in Authenticator App - Novaz instead.
  • You can't enter a password because you sign in with a social login: click "Continue" at the password step and follow ESET's emailed instructions to create an ESET HOME password.
  • A lost or shared device still skips the code: click "Edit" next to "Two-factor authentication", confirm with your password and a code, then use "Forget devices" to remove all remembered logins.

How to recover your ESET HOME account

ESET HOME gives you ten one-time recovery codes during setup. If you can't use Authenticator App - Novaz, choose to use one of your 8-digit recovery codes at login, type it and click "Continue". To download your codes again or replace them, open home.eset.com/account, click "Edit" next to "Two-factor authentication", enter your password and a 6-digit code, then click "Recovery codes" next to the recovery method. Click "Download codes", or "Get new codes" if you've used most of them. If you've lost access to your 2FA device and your recovery codes, contact ESET Technical Support.
