Fandom 2FA: How to Set Up an Authenticator App

fandom.com SupportedChecked against official help · September 25, 2026

Your Fandom account is the single login you use across Fandom's wikis. Fandom calls the feature Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): it's optional but recommended, and it adds a six-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone, such as Authenticator App - Novaz, to your username and password.

Turning on 2FA for Fandom adds a second layer of protection, so a stolen password alone isn't enough to get in. Fandom secures sign-ins with an authenticator app — set it up once and you're protected on every login.

2FA methods Fandom supports

  • Authenticator app (TOTP)

Before you start

  • Your Fandom username and password, or the Facebook, Google, Twitch or Apple login connected to your account
  • Fandom open on a computer and signed in, so the QR code is on a different screen from your phone
  • Authenticator App - Novaz installed on your iPhone or iPad
  • A safe place to store your recovery codes after setup

Part 1: Turn on 2FA in Fandom

  1. 1

    Open your preferences

While logged in to Fandom, open your preferences from the menu under your username (your avatar) at the top right of the screen.

  2. 2

Click Manage next to 2-factor authentication

In the first tab, "User profile", go to the bottom of the "Basic information" section and click the "Manage" link for "2-factor authentication". It opens Fandom's Account Settings page (auth.fandom.com/auth/settings).

  3. 3

    Find the Two-Factor Authentication section

On the Account Settings page, go to the Two-Factor Authentication section. It shows a QR code and a secret code for your account; leave the page open.

Part 2: Add Fandom to Authenticator App - Novaz

  1. 4

Add Fandom in Authenticator App - Novaz

Open Authenticator App - Novaz, tap the + button and scan the QR code. If it won't scan, choose to enter a setup key and type the secret code exactly as Fandom shows it, using "Fandom" as the account name, then tap "Save".

  2. 5

    Note the 6-digit code

Authenticator App - Novaz now shows a temporary six-digit code for Fandom. It changes every 30 seconds, so have it ready for the next step.

Part 3: Confirm and finish

  1. 6

Enter the code and click Verify code

Back on Fandom, type the code from Authenticator App - Novaz and click "Verify code". Two-Factor Authentication is now on.

  2. 7

    Save your recovery codes

In the same section, click "Show recovery codes", save the codes somewhere safe, then click "Confirm generated codes". Until you do this, the sign-in page only accepts codes from the app.

  3. 8

Know what signing in looks like

After your username and password, or after logging in with a social account, Fandom shows a second 2FA screen. Enter the current code from Authenticator App - Novaz, or a recovery code.

If something goes wrong

  • Fandom rejects the code: make sure your iPhone sets its date and time automatically (Settings > General > Date & Time), then enter the newest code.
  • You can't find the "Manage" link: go straight to the Account Settings page at auth.fandom.com/auth/settings while logged in.
  • The 2FA sign-in screen has no option for a recovery code: you haven't generated any. Once you're in, click "Show recovery codes" and "Confirm generated codes".
  • You log in with Facebook, Google, Twitch or Apple: the 2FA screen still appears after that login, so keep Authenticator App - Novaz to hand.

How to recover your Fandom account

Fandom's recovery codes are your way in when you're away from your phone. On the 2FA sign-in screen, enter a recovery code instead of the app's code. To get a fresh set, open Account Settings, click "Show recovery codes" and then "Generate new recovery codes". If you're still signed in somewhere, you can also turn 2FA off in Account Settings and set it up again on a new phone. Fandom's help pages don't describe how to get back in without the app or a recovery code, so in that case your remaining option is Fandom Support (support.fandom.com).
