Gaijin Entertainment 2FA Setup Guide
Your Gaijin account is used across Gaijin games such as War Thunder, Crossout, Star Conflict and CRSED: F.O.A.D. Gaijin calls the feature two-step authorization and sets it up with Google Authenticator codes, so Authenticator App - Novaz can generate them. Gaijin requires a phone number linked to your account before you can turn it on.
A Gaijin Entertainment account holds purchases, in-game items, and payment details that thieves can resell. Besides an authenticator app, Gaijin Entertainment also offers SMS text codes, email codes and a proprietary app. An authenticator app (TOTP) is usually the best balance of security and convenience — and it's safer than SMS codes, which can be intercepted through SIM-swap attacks.
2FA methods Gaijin Entertainment supports
- SMS text message
- Email code
- Authenticator app (TOTP)
- Proprietary app
Before you start
- Your Gaijin account email and password
- A phone number linked to your Gaijin account: without it, you can't connect two-step authorization
- Access to your main email inbox, because linking a phone number sends a confirmation code there first
- If you created the account via Steam, an email linked as your login, which you set up inside the game
- Authenticator App - Novaz installed on your iPhone or iPad, and store.gaijin.net open on a computer
Part 1: Turn on 2FA in Gaijin Entertainment
- 1
Open Account protection
Sign in at store.gaijin.net/user.php, your profile page in the Gaijin web store, and go to Profile → Security → Account protection.
- 2
Link your phone number
If your phone isn't linked yet, select the phone number security item, click "Enable" and enter your number. Enter the confirmation code Gaijin emails to your main address, then the security code from the SMS.
- 3
Start two-step authorization
On Account protection, click the button to enable two-step authorization with Google Authenticator. The page that opens lists the activation steps; the first two cover installing and configuring an app.
Part 2: Add Gaijin Entertainment to Authenticator App - Novaz
- 4
Scan the QR code in Authenticator App - Novaz
Open Authenticator App - Novaz, tap the + button and scan the QR code. If it won't scan, click "Can't scan the barcode?" on Gaijin, follow the instructions and enter the code shown there as a setup key in the app. Check the account name, tap "Save", then click the continue button on Gaijin.
- 5
Note the temporary code
Authenticator App - Novaz now generates a temporary code for your Gaijin account.
Part 3: Confirm and finish
- 6
Enter the code and click Activate
Back on Gaijin, input the code from Authenticator App - Novaz into the form and click "Activate". Two-step authorization is now on.
- 7
Know what login looks like now
When you log in, Gaijin shows a login confirmation page where you enter the current code. If you can't, the "Unable to confirm log in?" link on that page starts recovery.
- 8
Save a way to recover your account
If Gaijin Entertainment offers backup or recovery codes, download them or write them down and store them somewhere safe. They are how you get back into your account if you ever lose your phone. If it doesn't, check how Gaijin Entertainment recovers accounts before you need it.
If something goes wrong
- The code is not accepted: set the exact time on your device or synchronize it. On iPhone, turn on automatic date and time (Settings > General > Date & Time).
- You can't turn on two-step authorization: link a phone number first, and if you signed up via Steam, bind an email to your account as your login.
- You want to turn it off: go to Profile → Security → Account protection, click "Disable" next to the option and enter the security code to confirm.
- Gaijin emailed that two-step authentication via email is on: this happens on accounts with a confirmed email and purchase history when a login comes from a new device. If it wasn't you, change your password straight away.

How to recover your Gaijin Entertainment account
If you lose the phone with Authenticator App - Novaz, click "Unable to confirm log in?" on the login confirmation page. If you have reserve codes, enter one there and follow the instructions to install a new two-step authorization app. With a phone number linked, you can instead get an SMS code to disable two-step authentication. Gaijin then shows a QR code that installs the Gaijin Pass app already connected to your account, or an 8-digit code to activate it manually in the app. If you've lost the linked phone number too, contact Gaijin Customer Support. Include invoices for your last three purchases (if you made any) and the system information of the PC you used to access the account.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need a phone number for two-step authorization?
- Yes. Without linking the account to your phone number, you can't connect two-step authorization. The linked number also lets you recover your password and reset two-step authorization by SMS.
- Can I get codes by email instead of an app?
- Yes. On Profile → Security → Account protection, click "Enable" for the email option, enter the code sent to your email and click "Confirm". Codes then arrive as emails.
- I created my account via Steam. Can I still use this?
- Yes, once you link an email as your login. Gaijin has instructions for doing this inside War Thunder, Crossout, Star Conflict and CRSED: F.O.A.D.
- What is Gaijin Pass?
- Gaijin Pass is another way to enable two-step authentication, and its app can synchronize the time automatically. The SMS recovery route connects the Gaijin Pass app rather than a third-party app.
