GameBanana 2FA: How to Set Up an Authenticator App

gamebanana.com SupportedChecked against official help · September 25, 2026

GameBanana calls the feature 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) and has made it available to all members under Settings > 2FA. It must be enabled and configured using an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, so Authenticator App - Novaz can supply your codes. Once it's on, GameBanana asks for a code when you log in from an IP address it doesn't recognize.

A GameBanana account holds purchases, in-game items, and payment details that thieves can resell. GameBanana secures sign-ins with an authenticator app — set it up once and you're protected on every login.

2FA methods GameBanana supports

  • Authenticator app (TOTP)

Before you start

  • Your GameBanana username and password: you have to supply your password to turn 2FA on, and again to turn it off
  • Authenticator App - Novaz installed on your iPhone or iPad
  • GameBanana open in a browser, ideally on a computer, so the setup details are on a different screen from your phone

Part 1: Turn on 2FA in GameBanana

  1. 1

    Open Settings

Log in to GameBanana and open your account "Settings".

  2. 2

    Choose 2FA

Select "2FA", the item labelled "Toggle Two-Factor Authentication", to start turning 2FA on. Keep the page open.

Part 2: Add GameBanana to Authenticator App - Novaz

  1. 3

Add GameBanana in Authenticator App - Novaz

Open Authenticator App - Novaz and tap the + button. If GameBanana shows a QR code, scan it; if it shows a text key, choose to enter a setup key and type it exactly as shown. Name the account "GameBanana" and tap "Save".

  2. 4

    Find the code

Authenticator App - Novaz now shows a code for GameBanana. Keep the app open for the next step.

Part 3: Confirm and finish

  1. 5

Verify the code and enter your password

Back on GameBanana, enter the code from Authenticator App - Novaz. GameBanana requires you to verify that the code works before 2FA is enabled, and you also need to supply your GameBanana password.

  2. 6

Know when GameBanana will ask for a code

GameBanana checks where you sign in from by IP address. If your IP is unrecognized, 2FA appears on the login and you enter the current code from Authenticator App - Novaz.

  3. 7

Save a way to recover your account

If GameBanana offers backup or recovery codes, download them or write them down and store them somewhere safe. They are how you get back into your account if you ever lose your phone. If it doesn't, check how GameBanana recovers accounts before you need it.

If something goes wrong

  • GameBanana rejects the code: make sure your iPhone sets its date and time automatically (Settings > General > Date & Time), then enter the newest code.
  • 2FA won't switch on: GameBanana needs both a working code and your password, so check that you entered the newest code and the correct password.
  • You logged in and weren't asked for a code: a GameBanana admin explains that the 2FA step is shown when you appear to be signing in from an unknown IP address.
  • Your codes stopped working after a phone change: a GameBanana super moderator's advice is to make a support ticket.

How to recover your GameBanana account

GameBanana's 2FA announcement doesn't describe backup codes or a recovery code, so don't count on one. It also says that turning 2FA off needs the same checks as turning it on: a working code and your password. If you lose the phone with Authenticator App - Novaz, or your codes stop working, the route a GameBanana super moderator gives on the official forum is to make a support ticket.
