Kaspersky 2FA: How to Set Up an Authenticator App

kaspersky.com SupportedChecked against official help · September 25, 2026

Your My Kaspersky account holds your Kaspersky subscriptions and connected devices. Kaspersky calls the feature two-step verification and supports authenticator apps with 6-digit codes, such as Authenticator App - Novaz, but not on their own: you turn on SMS verification with your phone number first, then add the app.

A Kaspersky account is part of your security setup, so it deserves strong 2FA of its own. Besides an authenticator app, Kaspersky also offers SMS text codes. An authenticator app (TOTP) is usually the best balance of security and convenience — and it's safer than SMS codes, which can be intercepted through SIM-swap attacks.

2FA methods Kaspersky supports

  • Authenticator app (TOTP)
  • SMS text message

Before you start

  • Your My Kaspersky email address and password (the Security tab asks for the password)
  • A mobile phone number that can receive SMS, because the authenticator app only works once SMS verification is on
  • Authenticator App - Novaz installed on your iPhone or iPad
  • My Kaspersky open on a computer, so the QR code is on a different screen from your phone

Part 1: Turn on 2FA in Kaspersky

  1. 1

    Open manage your account

Sign in to My Kaspersky, click the link with your email address in the upper-right corner of the page, then click "manage your account" in the drop-down menu.

  2. 2

    Go to the Security tab

In the account settings window, go to the "Security" tab. Enter your password if asked.

  3. 3

    Set up SMS verification first

If SMS verification isn't on yet, click the "Set up" button, enter your password, specify your phone number and click "Get code". Then enter the security code from the SMS.

  4. 4

Click Set up under Authenticator app

In the "Authenticator app" section, click "Set up". My Kaspersky shows a QR code and a secret key. Keep this page open.

Part 2: Add Kaspersky to Authenticator App - Novaz

  1. 5

Add My Kaspersky in Authenticator App - Novaz

Open Authenticator App - Novaz, tap the + button and scan the QR code. If the camera can't read it, choose to enter a setup key and type the secret key exactly as My Kaspersky shows it, using "My Kaspersky" as the account name, then tap "Save".

  2. 6

    Note the 6-digit code

Authenticator App - Novaz now shows a 6-digit security code for My Kaspersky. It changes every 30 seconds, so have it ready for the next step.

Part 3: Confirm and finish

  1. 7

    Enter the code to finish

Back on My Kaspersky, enter the 6-digit security code from the app. Your app is now set up, and My Kaspersky will ask for its code by default when you sign in. To get a code by text instead, click "Use code from SMS" on the sign-in page.

  2. 8

Save a way to recover your account

If Kaspersky offers backup or recovery codes, download them or write them down and store them somewhere safe. They are how you get back into your account if you ever lose your phone. If it doesn't, check how Kaspersky recovers accounts before you need it.

If something goes wrong

  • There's no way to set up the authenticator app: set up two-step verification with your phone number first. Turning SMS verification off also turns the authenticator app off automatically.
  • My Kaspersky rejects the code: security codes change every 30 seconds, so wait for a new one. Also make sure your iPhone sets its date and time automatically (Settings > General > Date & Time).
  • A Kaspersky app can no longer connect to your account: Kaspersky emails you if an app doesn't support two-step verification. Update it to the latest version from the "Downloads" tab on My Kaspersky.

How to recover your Kaspersky account

Kaspersky's help doesn't mention backup codes for My Kaspersky, so your phone number is your fallback: if the device with Authenticator App - Novaz is lost, click "Use code from SMS" on the sign-in page. If you lose access to your phone number, you might not be able to sign in, so keep it current with the pencil icon in the "Phone number" field on the Security tab. Kaspersky also recommends adding the authenticator app on a second device, so you can still sign in and use Where Is My Device (where available) if your phone is lost or stolen.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use only an authenticator app, without SMS?
No. For now, authenticator apps can't be used on My Kaspersky as a standalone verification method, so SMS verification has to stay on.
Which authenticator apps work with My Kaspersky?
Any app that supports two-step verification with 6-digit TOTP security codes, including Authenticator App - Novaz. Kaspersky lists Kaspersky Password Manager, Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator and Authy as tested examples.
Can I get My Kaspersky codes on more than one device?
Yes. Add the same QR code or secret key to every device and check they show the same code. To add a device after setup, turn the authenticator app feature off and on again to get a new QR code and secret key, then add it everywhere.
What happens to my security question?
Once you set up two-step verification, the security question feature is permanently disabled.
Can I set this up on the Kaspersky Account site instead?
Yes. Kaspersky Account (account.uis.kaspersky.com) manages the same single Kaspersky account. Turn on the "Additional protection" slider, click "Confirm" and enter the SMS code, then click the "Enable authenticator app" link at the bottom of the page.
