Perimeter 81 2FA: How to Set Up an Authenticator App
Perimeter 81 supports app-based two-factor authentication (2FA). Turning it on adds a second layer of protection, so a stolen password alone can't unlock your Perimeter 81 account.
A Perimeter 81 account is part of your security setup, so it deserves strong 2FA of its own. Besides an authenticator app, Perimeter 81 also offers SMS text codes, a proprietary app, security keys and phone-call codes. An authenticator app (TOTP) is usually the best balance of security and convenience — and it's safer than SMS codes, which can be intercepted through SIM-swap attacks. For the strongest protection, Perimeter 81 also supports hardware security keys.
2FA methods Perimeter 81 supports
- SMS text message
- Authenticator app (TOTP)
- Proprietary app
- Security key (U2F / WebAuthn)
- Phone call

How to recover your Perimeter 81 account
If you lose access to your authenticator and Perimeter 81 gave you backup or recovery codes when you turned on 2FA, sign in with one of them; keep them somewhere safe, away from your phone. Not every service issues codes. If Perimeter 81 doesn't, or you didn't save them, use Perimeter 81's account-recovery or support process (or ask your admin, for a work account) to get back in.
