Authenticator App - Novaz

PlayStation 2FA: How to Set Up an Authenticator App

playstation.com Supported

2-Step Verification on your PlayStation account keeps your games, purchases and profile safe if your password ever leaks. Sony lets you use an authenticator app for the codes, so Authenticator App - Novaz can handle your second step.

A PlayStation account holds purchases, in-game items, and payment details that thieves can resell. Besides an authenticator app, PlayStation also offers SMS text codes. An authenticator app (TOTP) is usually the best balance of security and convenience — and it's safer than SMS codes, which can be intercepted through SIM-swap attacks.

If something goes wrong

  • PlayStation rejects the code: confirm your iPhone's date and time are set automatically, then copy a brand-new code.
  • The code expired before you clicked Verify: wait for Authenticator App - Novaz to show the next code and paste that one.
  • The QR code won't scan: zoom in on the pop-up, brighten your screen, or move your phone slightly farther from the monitor.
  • You lost your phone: sign in with one of the backup codes you saved at the end of setup.

How to recover your PlayStation account

If you lose access to your authenticator and PlayStation gave you backup or recovery codes when you turned on 2FA, sign in with one of them; keep them somewhere safe, away from your phone. Not every service issues codes. If PlayStation doesn't, or you didn't save them, use PlayStation's account-recovery or support process (or ask your admin, for a work account) to get back in.
