Authenticator App - Novaz

Rockstar Games 2FA Setup with an Authenticator App

rockstargames.com SupportedChecked against official help · September 26, 2026

Your Rockstar Games account links your games and purchases across platforms, so it's a target for account thieves. Rockstar calls the feature 2-Step Verification and supports authenticator apps such as Twilio Authy, Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator and 1Password, so Authenticator App - Novaz can generate the codes too.

A Rockstar Games account holds purchases, in-game items, and payment details that thieves can resell. Rockstar Games secures sign-ins with an authenticator app — set it up once and you're protected on every login.

2FA methods Rockstar Games supports

  • Authenticator app (TOTP)

Before you start

  • A Rockstar Games account with a verified email address
  • Your account password: Rockstar asks for it at the last step
  • Authenticator App - Novaz installed on your iPhone or iPad
  • rockstargames.com open on a computer, so the QR code is on a different screen from your phone

Part 1: Turn on 2FA in Rockstar Games

  1. 1

    Open Manage Account

Sign in at rockstargames.com, click the account icon at the top right, select "Account", then "Manage Account".

  2. 2

    Go to Security

Open "Security". Rockstar shows a QR code and a Secret Key for your authenticator app; keep them on screen.

Part 2: Add Rockstar Games to Authenticator App - Novaz

  1. 3

Scan the QR code with Authenticator App - Novaz

Open Authenticator App - Novaz, tap the + button and scan the QR code. If it won't scan, enter the Secret Key in Novaz instead. Use "Rockstar Games" as the account name, then tap "Save".

  2. 4

    Note the code

Authenticator App - Novaz now shows a one-time code for Rockstar Games. It changes every 30 seconds, so have the current one ready.

Part 3: Confirm and finish

  1. 5

Enter the code and your password

Back on rockstargames.com, enter the code from Authenticator App - Novaz and your account password, then click "Verify".

  2. 6

Make sure your codes are backed up

Rockstar recommends turning on cloud backup in your authenticator app. Authenticator App - Novaz backs up your codes to your own iCloud, encrypted, so they come back on a new iPhone.

If something goes wrong

  • Rockstar says the code is wrong: make sure your iPhone sets its date and time automatically (Settings > General > Date & Time), then enter the newest code.
  • You can't start the setup: Rockstar requires a verified email address on your account, so verify it first and try again.
  • "Verify" fails with a correct code: Rockstar also asks for your account password at this step, so check that it's right.
  • You lost your phone: restore Authenticator App - Novaz from its iCloud backup on your new iPhone, since Rockstar points you to your authenticator app's own recovery options.

How to recover your Rockstar Games account

For a lost phone or authenticator, Rockstar's help points you to the recovery options of the authenticator app itself and recommends turning on cloud backup in the app, so your codes survive a lost or replaced phone. With Authenticator App - Novaz, sign in to the same Apple Account on your new iPhone and your codes come back from the encrypted iCloud backup. Rockstar's help doesn't mention backup codes or a recovery key for Rockstar accounts, so the app backup is your safety net.
