Spotify for Artists 2FA Setup Guide
Your Spotify for Artists account gives you and your team access to your artist profile and music, so it deserves more than a password. Spotify calls the feature 2-step verification and supports authenticator apps such as Google Authenticator, so Authenticator App - Novaz can supply your codes. You turn it on at your Spotify account page, accounts.spotify.com, not inside the Spotify for Artists dashboard.
A Spotify for Artists account can hold your creative work and files, so protect it with 2FA. Besides an authenticator app, Spotify for Artists also offers SMS text codes. An authenticator app (TOTP) is usually the best balance of security and convenience — and it's safer than SMS codes, which can be intercepted through SIM-swap attacks.
2FA methods Spotify for Artists supports
- Authenticator app (TOTP)
- SMS text message
Before you start
- Access to Spotify for Artists: Spotify says 2-step verification is only available to Spotify for Artists users right now
- Your Spotify login details, because you may need to log in again before setup and before any later change
- Authenticator App - Novaz installed on your iPhone or iPad
- accounts.spotify.com open on a computer, so the QR code is on a different screen from your phone
- A secure place for your backup codes (on a shared computer, print or copy them instead of downloading)

If something goes wrong
- You don't see 2-step verification on accounts.spotify.com: Spotify currently offers it only to Spotify for Artists users.
- Spotify rejects the code: make sure your iPhone sets its date and time automatically (Settings > General > Date & Time), then enter the newest code.
- Spotify texted you a code instead: with both methods on, SMS is the default. Select "Want to log in another way?" and enter the code from Authenticator App - Novaz.
- You see "Too many attempts, please try again later": wait 30 minutes before trying again.
- You're moving to a new phone: on accounts.spotify.com, select "2-step verification", then "Edit" and "Change" to set up the authenticator app again. You'll need to log in again first.

How to recover your Spotify for Artists account
Spotify gives you backup codes when you set up 2-step verification, and each code can only be used once. If you lose your phone or can't open Authenticator App - Novaz, select "Want to log in another way?" during login and enter one of your backup codes. If you think someone else might have your codes, log in to accounts.spotify.com, select "2-step verification", then "Edit", select "Show codes" under Backup codes and click "Generate new codes", then save the new set. If you still can't log in, contact Spotify through the "Problems logging in to Spotify for Artists with 2-step verification" help page.
