TradingView 2FA: How to Set Up an Authenticator App

tradingview.com SupportedChecked against official help · September 25, 2026

Your TradingView account holds your charts, watchlists and settings, so it deserves more than a password. TradingView calls the feature two-factor authentication (2FA) and recommends an authenticator app over SMS, since text messages can be delayed or may not reach some countries. Authenticator App - Novaz can generate the one-time codes.

A TradingView account can be tied to your money and personal finances, so a stolen password is a direct financial risk. Besides an authenticator app, TradingView also offers SMS text codes. An authenticator app (TOTP) is usually the best balance of security and convenience — and it's safer than SMS codes, which can be intercepted through SIM-swap attacks.

2FA methods TradingView supports

  • Authenticator app (TOTP)
  • SMS text message

Before you start

  • Your TradingView username or email and password
  • If you log in through social media such as your Google account, a TradingView password: you have to set one before you can enable 2FA
  • Access to the email inbox on your TradingView account, because TradingView emails you a code during setup
  • Authenticator App - Novaz installed on your iPhone or iPad
  • TradingView open on a computer, so the QR code is on a different screen from your phone, plus pen and paper for backup codes

Part 1: Turn on 2FA in TradingView

  1. 1

    Open Account Settings

Sign in to TradingView and go to the "Privacy and Security" tab in your profile, then "Account Settings". The direct link is tradingview.com/settings/#account-settings.

  2. 2

Click Enable for the authentication app

Click "Enable" in the authentication app field. If you log in through social media, set a password first: click "Reset", follow the instructions in the email to set a password, then return to TradingView and click "Enable" again.

  3. 3

    Enter the emailed code

TradingView tells you it's sending you a letter with a code. Type or paste that code into the dialog window. TradingView then shows a QR code; keep it on screen.

Part 2: Add TradingView to Authenticator App - Novaz

  1. 4

  2. 5

  2. 7

    Save your backup codes

TradingView now shows your backup codes. Write them down by hand and keep them somewhere safe: TradingView advises against copying and pasting them or storing them on your devices. Only after saving them, click "I saved the codes."

  3. 8

Know when TradingView will ask for a code

From now on, after entering your password you also enter a code from Authenticator App - Novaz each time you log in.

If something goes wrong

  • TradingView doesn't accept a code you typed correctly: TradingView says your devices must be synced and showing the correct time. Make sure your iPhone sets its date and time automatically (Settings > General > Date & Time), then enter the newest code.
  • The setup code hasn't arrived: TradingView sends it to the email address on your account, so check that inbox.
  • Your backup codes are lost or used up: TradingView says you can always generate new ones. Do it while you can still sign in.

How to recover your TradingView account

TradingView generates backup codes when you enable 2FA and calls them the only way to regain access if you can't use your 2FA device. If you change phones, log in with a backup code or on a device where you still have an active session, select "Disable" next to your 2FA method in "Account settings", then enable it again with Authenticator App - Novaz on the new phone. TradingView states that it cannot recover your account if you lose access to your 2FA codes, and that you alone are responsible for your authentication methods and recovery codes, so keep the handwritten list safe.
