Authenticator App - Novaz

Ubisoft/Uplay 2FA Setup with an Authenticator App

ubisoft.com SupportedChecked against official help · September 25, 2026

Your Ubisoft account is what you sign in with for Ubisoft games and services, so it's worth protecting with more than a password. Ubisoft calls the feature 2-Step verification and offers three methods: an authenticator app, email or SMS. The authenticator app method works with Authenticator App - Novaz.

A Ubisoft/Uplay account holds purchases, in-game items, and payment details that thieves can resell. Besides an authenticator app, Ubisoft/Uplay also offers email codes and SMS text codes. An authenticator app (TOTP) is usually the best balance of security and convenience — and it's safer than SMS codes, which can be intercepted through SIM-swap attacks.

2FA methods Ubisoft/Uplay supports

  • Email code
  • Authenticator app (TOTP)
  • SMS text message

Before you start

  • Your Ubisoft account email address and password
  • Access to the email inbox on your Ubisoft account, because Ubisoft emails you the link that starts the authenticator setup
  • A phone number you can add, in case Ubisoft asks for a recovery phone number before it continues
  • Authenticator App - Novaz installed on your iPhone or iPad
  • A safe place for six recovery codes, such as local storage or a password manager

Part 1: Turn on 2FA in Ubisoft/Uplay

  1. 1

    Open the Security page

Sign in to your Ubisoft account and open the "Security" page (ubisoft.com/account/security-settings). Go to the "2-Step verification" section.

  2. 2

    Activate the Authenticator app tile

On the "Authenticator app" tile, choose "Activate". If you haven't added a recovery phone number yet, Ubisoft may ask you to add one first.

  3. 3

    Select Send

Select "Send". Ubisoft emails instructions for activating 2-Step verification to the email address associated with your Ubisoft account.

  4. 4

Open the link in the email

Open the email, ideally on a computer so the setup screen is apart from your phone, and select the link.

Part 2: Add Ubisoft/Uplay to Authenticator App - Novaz

  1. 5

Add Ubisoft in Authenticator App - Novaz

Follow the instructions the link opens. When they show a QR code, open Authenticator App - Novaz, tap the + button and scan it. If you're given a setup key instead, choose to enter a setup key and type it exactly as shown. Use "Ubisoft" as the account name, then tap "Save".

  2. 6

    Note the code

Authenticator App - Novaz now shows a code for Ubisoft. It changes every 30 seconds, so have it ready for the next step.

Part 3: Confirm and finish

  1. 7

    Complete the setup

Back on the Ubisoft setup page, finish the remaining instructions, entering the current code from Authenticator App - Novaz when you're asked for it.

  2. 8

    Save your six recovery codes

Once 2-Step verification is activated, Ubisoft gives you six recovery codes. Store them in a secure place, such as local storage or a password manager, before you close the page.

  3. 9

Know when Ubisoft will ask for a code

Every login from an untrusted device now needs a code from Authenticator App - Novaz. To trust a device, check "Remember this device" after entering your password and code, then select "Log in".

If something goes wrong

  • The setup email hasn't arrived: check the inbox of the email address on your Ubisoft account, including the spam, junk and promotions folders.
  • Ubisoft rejects the code: make sure your iPhone sets its date and time automatically (Settings > General > Date & Time), then enter the newest code.
  • You've lost your recovery codes but can still sign in: deactivate 2-Step verification from the Security page, then activate it again to receive new codes.
  • You got an email about suspicious activity: Ubisoft sends one when someone tries to access your account but can't verify the code. Your codes kept them out, but consider changing your password.

How to recover your Ubisoft/Uplay account

When you activate 2-Step verification, Ubisoft gives you six single-use recovery codes. If you can't use your phone, enter one of them instead of a code from Authenticator App - Novaz. If you lose the codes, Ubisoft recommends deactivating 2-Step verification and activating it again to get a new set. Ubisoft says you can still recover your account even without your verification method or recovery codes. Its account recovery guide says to try logging in with another platform account linked to your Ubisoft account first. If that fails, select "Can't log in?" on the Ubisoft account login page, choose "I forgot my password", enter your email address, complete the Captcha and select "Continue". Then select "Don't have access to your email?" and "Visit Ubisoft Help" to fill out the Account Recovery Form.
