Uphold 2FA: How to Set Up an Authenticator App
Your Uphold account holds your wallet and funds, so a password on its own is too thin a defense. With 2-factor authentication turned on, signing in also requires a code from an authenticator app, and Authenticator App - Novaz can supply it.
Crypto transactions can't be reversed, so protecting your Uphold sign-in with 2FA is essential. Uphold secures sign-ins with an authenticator app — set it up once and you're protected on every login.
2FA methods Uphold supports
- Authenticator app (TOTP)
Before you start
- Your Uphold login details
- Authenticator App - Novaz installed on your iPhone or iPad
- Uphold open on a computer, so your phone can scan the QR code from the screen
Part 1: Turn on 2FA in Uphold
- 1
Open Uphold's security settings
Sign in to Uphold and click "More". Choose "Security", then click "Enable 2-factor authentication".

- 2
Read the overview and click Enable
Uphold shows a short page explaining 2-factor authentication. When you're set, click "Enable".

- 3
Keep the QR code on screen
Uphold now displays a QR code containing your secret key. Leave the page open while you pick up your iPhone or iPad. Our screenshot shows a sample code, so don't scan it.

Part 2: Add Uphold to Authenticator App - Novaz
- 4
Scan the QR code with Authenticator App - Novaz
Open Authenticator App - Novaz, tap +, and aim your camera at the QR code on your computer. If you'd rather not scan, you can type the 2FA key into the app yourself.

- 5
Save the Uphold account
The app should recognize Uphold after the scan, add its logo, and fill in your account name along with the secret key. Tap "Save" when it all looks correct.

Part 3: Confirm and finish
- 6
Verify with a 6-digit code
With Uphold now listed in Authenticator App - Novaz, go back to the Uphold site, enter the current 6-digit code, and click "Verify".

- 7
Click Done
2-factor authentication is now on, so your Uphold wallet can't be opened with your password alone. Click "Done" to wrap up.

- 8
Save a way to recover your account
If Uphold offers backup or recovery codes, download them or write them down and store them somewhere safe. They are how you get back into your account if you ever lose your phone. If it doesn't, check how Uphold recovers accounts before you need it.
If something goes wrong
- QR code not scanning? Enlarge the page in your browser, or enter the 2FA key into the app by hand.
- If Uphold won't accept your code, check that your iPhone's date and time are set automatically, then try the latest code.
- Code expired while you were typing? Wait for the app to show the next one and enter that.
- Keep Authenticator App - Novaz and its Uphold entry on your phone after setup; deleting either one leaves you without sign-in codes.
Menu names on Uphold can change — the official Uphold 2FA documentation ↗ always has the exact, current path.
How to recover your Uphold account
If you lose access to your authenticator and Uphold gave you backup or recovery codes when you turned on 2FA, sign in with one of them; keep them somewhere safe, away from your phone. Not every service issues codes. If Uphold doesn't, or you didn't save them, use Uphold's account-recovery or support process (or ask your admin, for a work account) to get back in.
