One.com 2FA: How to Set Up an Authenticator App
Your one.com Control Panel is where you manage your contact details, email addresses, Website Builder and FTP login details. one.com calls the feature two-step verification (2FA) and offers two apps for it: its own one.com Companion app and Google Authenticator. The Google Authenticator option uses 6-digit codes, so Authenticator App - Novaz can supply them instead.
Losing a One.com account can take your sites or servers offline, so lock it down with 2FA. Besides an authenticator app, One.com also offers a proprietary app. An authenticator app (TOTP) is usually the best balance of security and convenience.
2FA methods One.com supports
- Authenticator app (TOTP)
- Proprietary app
Before you start
- Your one.com contact email address and Control Panel password: the contact email address is your username for the Control Panel
- Authenticator App - Novaz installed on your iPhone or iPad
- The one.com Control Panel open on a computer (login.one.com), so the setup details are on a different screen from your phone
- If you plan to change your contact email address, do it before you turn on 2FA: one.com says two-step verification stops working when the contact email address is updated
Part 1: Turn on 2FA in One.com
- 1
Log in to the Control Panel
Go to login.one.com, enter your contact email address and password, and click "Log in".
- 2
Open Account settings
In the new Control Panel design, click the little Settings icon in the upper-right corner. In the old design, click "My account" in the top-right corner, then "Account settings". While both designs exist, the "Try new look" toggle in the bottom-left corner switches between them.
- 3
Go to the Two-step verification tab
Open the "Two-step verification" tab. It has a section for the one.com Companion app and a section for Google Authenticator.
- 4
Click Activate under Google Authenticator
Click "Activate" under Google Authenticator and follow the steps one.com shows. Skip the one.com Companion app section: that method has you approve logins by swiping right in one.com's own app.
Part 2: Add One.com to Authenticator App - Novaz
- 5
Add one.com in Authenticator App - Novaz
Where the setup steps mention Google Authenticator, use Authenticator App - Novaz instead. Open the app and tap the + button, then scan the QR code or choose to enter a setup key, depending on what one.com gives you. Name the account "one.com" and tap "Save".
- 6
Note the 6-digit code
Authenticator App - Novaz now shows a 6-digit code for one.com. It changes every 30 seconds, so enter the newest one whenever one.com asks for a code.
Part 3: Confirm and finish
- 7
Complete the steps on one.com
Back in the Control Panel, finish the remaining setup steps. Two-step verification is then active for your Control Panel login.
- 8
Log in with your code next time
From your next login, enter your email address and password as normal, then enter the 6-digit code from Authenticator App - Novaz. You can only access your account when both are correct.
- 9
Save a way to recover your account
If One.com offers backup or recovery codes, download them or write them down and store them somewhere safe. They are how you get back into your account if you ever lose your phone. If it doesn't, check how One.com recovers accounts before you need it.
If something goes wrong
- one.com rejects the code: make sure your iPhone sets its date and time automatically (Settings > General > Date & Time), then enter the newest code.
- Two-step verification stopped working after you changed your contact email address: one.com says this happens. Reactivate it from the "Two-step verification" tab, and next time click "Deactivate" before changing the address.
- You can't find "Account settings": in the new Control Panel design it's behind the Settings icon in the upper-right corner, not under "My account".

How to recover your One.com account
one.com's 2FA guide doesn't describe backup codes; it describes two ways to reset 2FA. If you can still log in, open the "Two-step verification" tab under Account settings, click "Deactivate" and enter your Control Panel password. If you've lost access to your Control Panel, fill out the "Disable two-step verification" form. Add a photo or scan of a valid picture ID of the subscription owner, showing only the date of birth, full name, signature and expiry date; one.com asks you to conceal or redact everything else. If the owner is a company or association, include a company stamp, letterhead or registry excerpt. Sign the form and send it with the attachments to one.com support.
