Authenticator App - Novaz

Getting your 2FA codes on your Apple Watch

The Apple Watch is the quickest place to read a six-digit code: you glance, you type, you're in. No unlocking a phone, no switching apps mid-login.

How to set it up

  1. Install Authenticator App - Novaz on your iPhone and add your accounts.
  2. Make sure sync is on — syncing across your Apple devices.
  3. Open the app on the watch; your accounts are there, showing the same codes.

Every device shows identical digits at the same moment because TOTP derives the code from the current time rather than receiving it.

When it's genuinely useful

  • Signing in on a laptop while your phone is charging in another room.
  • Logging in repeatedly during a work session.
  • Any time getting your phone out is the slow part.

What to keep in mind

A watch is small, so a long account list is harder to navigate than on the phone. Giving entries clear names pays off here more than anywhere — organizing your accounts.

And a watch is worn, dropped, and left on desks. Wrist detection with a passcode is what stops someone else reading your codes off it, so keep that on in the Watch settings, and keep App Lock enabled on your phone and iPad.

It's a convenience, not a backup

Codes on your wrist don't protect you if you lose your phone — the watch depends on the same accounts. Keep an encrypted backup and each service's recovery codes as the real safety net.
