How to lock the app with Face ID, Touch ID, or a PIN
Your authenticator holds the second half of every login. App Lock adds a separate check — Face ID, Touch ID, or a PIN — before anyone can see your codes.
Turn on App Lock
- Open Authenticator App and go to its settings.
- Turn on App Lock.
- Choose Face ID, Touch ID, or a PIN.
- Set the app to lock automatically so it re-locks when you leave it.
FAQ
- What if Face ID fails?
- You can fall back to your PIN. Set a PIN you'll remember when you turn App Lock on, so a failed scan never locks you out of your own codes.
- Does App Lock protect my backup too?
- The backup is encrypted separately. App Lock stops someone using the app on your unlocked phone; the backup stays protected in your iCloud account.
